Carnival Celebration is the second Excel-class cruise ship ordered by Carnival Corporation for its subsidiary Carnival Cruise Line. It will be a sister ship to the first Excel-class ship, Mardi Gras, which is scheduled to enter service in 2021.

The cruise ship is under construction at Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland and the first steel cutting ceremony for the ship was held in January 2021. It will debut from Terminal F, the third terminal at PortMiami, in November 2022 to commemorate Carnival Cruise Line’s 50th birthday celebrations.

The addition of Carnival Celebration to Miami will help maintain PortMiami’s position as the biggest embarkation port for Carnival Cruise Line.

Carnival Celebration cruise ship design

The Carnival Celebration cruise ship will measure 345m long, 41.7m wide and will have a gross tonnage of 180,800t. It can accommodate up to 5,374 guests across 18 passenger decks, served by 1,735 on-board crew members. Powered by a low-emission LNG drive system, the vessel will have a cruise speed of 17k.

The ship will include similar design features incorporated in its sister ship Mardi Gras, which is one of the most anticipated ships in the cruising industry. The innovative cruise ship will include six themed zones. 

Staterooms aboard Carnival Celebration

Carnival Celebration will offer a broad range of accommodation categories with up to 180 suites across 11 different categories, namely Family Harbor Ocean View Suite, Havana Cabana Suite, Havana Cabana Corner Suite, Ocean Suite, Carnival Excel Corner Suite (Split Balcony), Ocean Suite (Extended Balcony), Carnival Excel Suite, Carnival Excel Aft Suite, Cloud 9 Spa Suite and Carnival Excel Presidential Suite.

The Carnival Excel Presidential Suite will feature a separate living room and bedroom, a lighted vanity, sectional sofa, and a bedroom with a TV. Guests at the suite will have complimentary access to Thermal Suites and Havana Pool.

The ship will include 2,641 staterooms in four different categories, Family Harbor Interior, Havana Interior, Interior, Premium Interior, and Cloud 9 Spa Interior.

The Family Harbor Interior stateroom will feature a unique nautical décor and include a separate bedroom and living room area with a TV. The Cloud 9 Spa Suite will include large room features such as soothing décor, priority spa reservations and unlimited use of Thermal Suites. 

Dining and amenities

The cruise ship will mark the return of innovations such as Family Feud™ Live, RedFrog® Tiki Bar, Seuss at Sea™, Playlist Productions™, Havana Bar™ and more. Carnival Celebration will also include BOLT, the first roller coaster at sea.

It will house 11 bars and ten restaurants and food bars with dining options that include Guy’s Pig & Smokehouse, Big Chicken, Bonsai Teppanyaki™, Gu’s Burger Joint, Steakhouse, Bonsai Sushi, Seafood Shack, and The Chef’s Table.

The ship will also provide a variety of on-board entertainment activities such as Serenity Adult Only Retreat, Waterworks, The Punchliner Comedy Club, and Loft 19.

The vessel will also feature seven lounges, five swimming pools, five jacuzzies, and 22 elevators. 

Itineraries of Carnival Celebration

Carnival Celebration will embark on its inaugural voyage with a 14-day Carnival Journeys transatlantic crossing from Southampton, London to Miami, Florida. Scheduled to start on 6 November 2022, the seagoing adventure voyage will include La Coruña and Vigo, Spain, Tenerife (Canary Islands) and Funchal (Maderia), Portugal.

The ship’s inaugural voyage will be followed by a special six-day Thanksgiving cruise, covering Grand Turk, Nassau, and Amber Cove until 27 November 2022. The vessel with then embark on year-round seven-day Caribbean cruises from the end of November 2022.
