MSC Group’s cruise brand MSC Cruises is set to carry out a naming ceremony for its new green cruise flagship, MSC Euribia, on 8 June in Copenhagen, Denmark.
MSC Euribia will become the brand’s second ship to operate on liquefied natural gas (LNG), which is anticipated to lower CO emissions by up to 25% compared to standard fuels.
It is also said to virtually remove other air emissions.
According to the cruise line, emissions from the new green cruise ship will be reduced further when bio and synthetic fuels are made available.
The vessel will also be equipped with modern environmental systems, such as the ‘Baltic Standard’ advanced on-board wastewater treatment system and waste management handling.
To minimise the effects of vibrations on marine life, it will use an underwater radiated noise management system.
Other features of the green cruise ship will include ten dining venues, 21 bars and lounges, a 954-seat theatre, five pools and a coral-themed water park.
Furthermore, it will incorporate energy efficiency measures and shore power connectivity to facilitate zero emissions.
MSC Euribia will start its first season in Northern Europe on 10 June. It will offer seven-night sailings from Kiel, Germany, and Copenhagen, Denmark, to the Norwegian Fjords, including Geiranger, Ålesund and Flaam.
Last November, MSC Cruises conducted the naming ceremony for its new MSC World Europa cruise vessel at Qatar’s Grand Cruise terminal.
