The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has reached a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Vietnam Maritime Administration (Vinamarine) for cooperation in the maritime and port sectors.
This agreement will help improve maritime and port cooperation between the countries.
As part of the MoU, the authorities will examine collaboration opportunities and share views on various areas to support clean and secure shipping.
These areas will include maritime digitalisation, green shipping initiatives, port state control inspection, and training of maritime personnel.
MPA CEO Teo Eng Dih said: “The MoU is testament to the commitment between Singapore and Vietnam to address common challenges, exchange of experiences and to co-develop practical solutions towards more efficient and sustainable shipping. I look forward to working with the Vinamarine team to achieve our shared objectives.”
Vinamarine acting administrator Nguyen Dinh Viet said: “The signing of this cooperation document further strengthens the cooperation relationship between the two maritime authorities of Vietnam and Singapore.
“I look forward to further cooperation between Vinamarine and MPA, for the sake of companionship and development.”
Last November, MPA signed an MoU with DNV to renew their ties in maritime decarbonisation and digital innovation.
Established in 1996, MPA is focused on the overall development and growth of the maritime domain as well as the Port of Singapore.
Meanwhile, Vinamarine was set up in 1992 and is responsible for the management of seaports, inland ports, coastal information systems, navigational channels and maritime signalling systems in Vietnam.
