United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based port operator AD Ports Group has reached a Head of Terms (HoT) agreement with the Republic of Congo’s Ministry of International Cooperation and Promotion of Public Private Partnership for a new multipurpose terminal in Pointe-Noire.

The HoT will provide the company with the exclusive right to invest in the development, operation and management of the New Mole Port.

This new port will handle containers, general cargo, break-bulk and other types of cargo.

Furthermore, the company will open a new facility to offer digital services and technology solutions.

It is expected to help improve efficiency in the design, implementation and operation of a single window, as well as enhance software development, digital architecture, business analytics, digital operations support and digital transformation.

Eligible for one year from the date of signing, the HoT is expected to facilitate the signing of a concession agreement subject to technical, legal, commercial and environmental due diligence.

Claimed to be the main commercial centre of the country, Pointe Noire and its ports are said to play a significant role in the development of the nation.

AD Ports Group CEO and managing director Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi said: “AD Ports Group continues to expand its operations globally, working with partners to develop the world-class port, logistics and maritime facilities in key commercial hubs.

“We see significant potential for developing a multipurpose terminal at the Port of Pointe Noire, particularly given the port’s key role in the energy sector.

“As always, we are grateful for the support of the UAE’s leadership in enabling us to develop this new opportunity and supporting our international ambitions.”
