Ambassador Cruise Line (Ambassador) has joined the UK’s leading travel trade association, ABTA – formerly known as the Association of British Travel Agents.

Ambassador is a new premium-value cruise line. It is the first new British cruise line to be launched since 2010, offering no-fly cruises to the UK market.

The first ship to enter the Ambassador fleet, Ambience, set sail on a short break cruise to Hamburg for its maiden voyage on Wednesday 6 April 2022. The 245m ship carries up to 1,400 guests with 789 cabins and 11 guest decks. She has a crew of 608 from 27 nationalities and has been upgraded to operate at IMO Tier III from her inaugural voyage, placing her amongst the top 10%-15% of cruise ships to achieve this level of environmental operation.

Ambience operates a programme of departures to multiple destinations including the Grand Round the World Cruise, Nordics, Greenland, Iceland, Canada, and the Mediterranean from her home port of London Tilbury.

Ambassador’s second ship, Ambition, will enter service in May 2023, carrying 1,200 guests in 714 cabins and 10 guest decks. She will operate itineraries from London Tilbury but will also offer cruises from six UK regional departure ports, including Newcastle, Dundee, Liverpool, Belfast, Bristol, and Falmouth.

Ambassador has also providing an update on its financial protection arrangements.

In compliance with the Package Travel and Linked Arrangements Regulations 2018, Ambassador’s guests are financially protected by a Financial Failure Insurance policy, which is managed by TMU Management Limited and underwritten by Accelerant Insurance Europe SA.

Ambassador has put financial protection at the heart of its offering since its inception and will continue to pay consumer deposits and balance payments into an independently managed trust account.

“At the heart of the Ambassador Cruise Line proposition is one objective, to prioritise the guest. This extends far beyond the booking and onboard experience. We are delighted to announce that Ambassador is now an ABTA member,” said Ambassador CEO Christian Verhounig

“Our comprehensive insurance scheme also means guests are reassuringly financially protected and can book with confidence and peace of mind.”

Ambassador is also seeking to further reassure potential guests with its innovative financial protection model, using intuitive technology to provide real-time data to insurers, currently unique to the line in the UK cruise sector.

All guests will be automatically transferred to the new scheme with effect from 29 September 2022.
